The Sciospec SlideChipAdapter is a 50 channel multiplexer compatible with all Sciospec impedance analyzers that support the ExtensionPort Interface. Reduced parasitics, simple setups without messy cabling and a very versatile and robust slide contact connector make the SlideChipAdapter the solution for multiplexed impedance sensors.

The 50 channel multiplexing adapter is a powerful instrument for reasearchers, who are

Multichannel chip-based impedance measurements couldn't be easier. Just bond your chips onto the carrier and you're good to go. The chip adapter is fully integrated into your Sciospec impedance analyzer's measurement and analysis software, so your chip-based experiments will be as flexible as your Sciospec impedance analyzer.

very versatile multiplexer configuration

  • 50 ports (functionality as imposed by connected instrument, e.g. ISX-3)
    • 13 dedicated Counter (C) ports
    • 13 dedicated Work (W) ports
    • 12 dual purpose Referece (R) and Counter (C) ports
    • 12 dual purpose WorkingSense (WS) and Work (W) ports
  • R and WS ports are high impedance voltage measurement ports with buffer amplifiers inside the SlideChipAdapter eliminating the parasitics of the ExtensionPort cable from sensitive R and WS terminals.
  • the multiplexing matrix is based on high performance ultra low parasitic reed relays
  • All C/R ports can be used as C ports with CRshort being set. In this case 25 C ports are available, but none of the C/R ports may be assigned to be a R port.
  • All W/WS ports can be used as W ports with WWSshort being set. In this case 25 C ports are available, but none of the C/R ports may be assigned to be a R port.
  • choice of 2, 3 or 4 port measurement configuration
    • in 2 port config up to 25 Counter (13 dedicated C plus 12 dual purpose R/C) and 25 Work (13 dedicated W plus 12 dual purpose WS/W) electrodes can be used
    • 3 port configuration
      • all of 13 dedicated C ports can be assigned as Counter (C)
      • up to 12 of the dual purpose R/C ports can be assigned as Reference (R) ports with the others being available as additional Counter (C) ports
      • up to 25 Work ports may be assigned (13 dedicated W plus 12 dual purpose WS/W)
    • 4 port configruation
      • all of 13 dedicated C ports can be assigned as Counter (C)
      • up to 12 of the dual purpose R/C ports can be assigned as Reference (R) ports with the others being available as additional Counter (C) ports
      • all of 13 dedicated W ports can be assigned as Work (W)
      • up to 12 of the dual purpose WS/W ports can be assigned as WorkingSense (WS) ports with the others being available as additional Work (W) ports
  • within the functional assignment (port type/role) constraints any combination of ports is supported. This e.g. includes options like
    • One Counter with multiple Work ports: Choose up to 25 Work ports and assign the same Counter electrode to all of them
    • one Counter, one Reference with multiple work ports: Choose up to 25 Work ports and assign the same Counter and Reference electrode to all of them
    • one counter and work pair, multiple Reference-WorkingSense pairs
    • ...
  • the same port might also have different roles between two measurements on the same device under test, e.g. inject current from C/R10 to W/WS18 while measuring voltage between C/R12 and W/WS20, then inversely current from C/R18 to W/WS20 and voltage between C/R10 and W/WS18

ExtensionPort System

For flexible extension of its application possibilities application specific frontends and adapters can be connected to many of our instruments through the ExtensionPort system. Interface and specifications for the ExtensionPort are fully user accessible dramatically simplifying customer`s developments for and with systems like the ISX-3, ISX-3mini or ISX-5. The connector carries measurement signals for 2,3 and 4-electrode configuration, supply rails and digital IOs, which can optionally be configured as serial interfaces (I2C, UART).
